about

Our narrator, now known as the Citizen Pluto, finds himself in a post-apocalyptic future, 3 light years from the sun out in the Oort cloud, reflecting on the nature of humans; mass-shootings, the climate crisis, nuclear war and the mutually assured destruction pact that we were balanced on like a razor's edge. Ashes, ashes, we all fell down.

lyrics

Circling the sun with a belly full of rum
And I’m certain that I’m doomed
All my friends have left me, there’s nobody except me
And the torture, the murder on the news

I’m out of my mind, I’m out of your mind
There’s really nothing I can do
Oh to be consoled by a blanket in the cold
And to sleep, sleep next to you

Laser guided bombs, helpless weeping moms
clutching lifeless cocoons
War between the nations for countless generations
I’m nauseous despite the Prussian blue

You’ve been on my mind for such a long time
while the space between us grew and grew

Radio Transmissions of corporate ammunition
over and over and over and over and over…

Intercepted instructions from a culture
I don’t understand anymore, but I can’t escape the gore
Even at 99 percent of the speed of light they find me

Propaganda from the dead hand
radiating from my screen
Interfering with my radio
Interfering with my dreams

(Radio Chatter)

You’ve been on my mind for such a long time
But it’s nothing more than Deja vu
Mutual assured destruction was preferred
and ashes ashes, we all fall down
